The beds were super comfortable, and there are new heaters in every room, so winter stays should be fine. The house is cosy and roomy, with two bathrooms and a brand-new kitchen. It really does sleep eight comfortably, with dining and lounge seating for everyone and eight of each kind of crockery and glassware.

It’s a basic but comfortable place for two, with what you need for a stay. The name is confusing, though: Google Maps calls it Templenoe Cottages, while Air BnB and the sign at the gate say Greenstone Cottages.

We stayed in the middle of winter and were plenty warm. Tinny and the team had everything under control from start to finish, with excellent service, no fuss, and a few frills.

We spent two nights here with family visiting from Australia. The place was warm and well appointed, and the hosts were friendly and helpful.

The bed was comfortable, and the location in Te Anau was perfect. It wasn’t very clean, though, and could do with some renovating.
