Manhattan Lodge Motel

The owners were friendly, and both the unit and bedding were clean and comfortable. Even though the motel was full, it was perfectly quiet. The decor is a little tired, but if that bothers you, you can easily choose somewhere pricier. I saw comments about low water pressure, but our taps and shower were hot and had good pressure. Great value for money. We'll definitely be back to Manhattan Lodge.

The manager was lovely, and the location is handy for Hamilton Gardens with lots of other services along the road. Tea, instant coffee, sugar, bar soap and shower shampoo were provided. The Wi-Fi worked well after it had to be reset on my first day. Water pressure was pretty low, but still enough to wash. I don't watch TV, though Sky is available. The yard's a bit shabby, and the table and chairs outside the room face the neighboring fence if you want to sit out there.

The shower was restricted to about one litre of water a minute, and one 48 Mbps modem was shared among 20 people. Some rooms have no heater, and there were cockroaches too. The manager was friendly, but denied all the other problems this place has. That's about the only good thing. Would. Never. Return.

The one good thing was a lovely couch. We were so tired when we arrived that we didn't move on, though we might have otherwise. The kitchen was badly equipped: no chopping board, frying pan, salt or pepper, and nothing to clean the saucepans with. The right front stove element and extractor fan didn't work. There was only one door between the toilet and kitchen, and I doubt this would pass council bylaws. The toilet walls were scruffy and tatty.
