The bed was comfortable and the room was quite clean, so the stay was pleasant enough. Still, it felt very overpriced for what was on offer, and I wouldn’t return unless it were much cheaper. I’d rate it as a solid 3-star stay, but gave it 2 because of the price. Walking in felt like going back to the 1970s. Things worked, but could use a refresh: the bedspread at least, the bathroom basin taps, and the damaged sofa. There were holes in the hallway plaster, giving it an old, run-down hospital feel. Even the hallway fire alarms looked ancient.

Update: I ended up sleeping really well, with comfortable pillows and a comfortable bed. That earns another star. This is my third stay, and I keep saying never again, but my corporate travel agent keeps booking it. The motel is on the pricey side, and there seems to have been no money spent on it for years. The decor is dated, with a blue room and salmon-and-white bathroom, and it hasn’t aged gracefully. There’s no heat pump, the shower paint is peeling, and the road noise is bad if you’re in a room by the road. The good points are strong shower pressure, plenty of hot water and cleanliness. It needs a full refurbishment.

The service was excellent, and breakfast eggs bene were exceptional. It was a great-value place to stop, close to Caroline bay. The property is getting older, but the bathroom’s been renovated recently and has a nice double shower. The furniture and beds were comfortable.

The rooms were cozy, clean and nice. I especially liked the view at night from the second-floor rooms with balconies. The location is very nice.
