Tui Base Camp

I had the whole dorm to myself after changing my camping booking to a dorm at the last minute, and I didn't regret upgrading. It was really quiet, the wifi worked well, and the kitchen was fairly well equipped. There's a large shared space, and the supermarket is close by. I also appreciated the books and magazines and the rack for drying clothes. The dorm was cosy but very basic, with just beds, no rubbish bin, and only two power sockets for four beds. The bathroom, shared with the campsite, was a bit rough but clean. It's a great place, though there aren't many other options, haha!

Everyone got a fantastic roast when we went to the bar for dinner. The sticky ribs were some of the best I've ever had too. Compliments to the chef and wait staff. Cheers guys, keep up the great work.

The coffee was good, and the young woman who served me was pleasant. The place looked bright and fresh, with a wood burner for the colder days that come around pretty often this far south and west. It's clearly aiming to serve a broad mix of customers, with a cafe, pub, pool table, sausage sales, ATM, restaurant and Frosty Boy machine. Not a bad stop while passing through, and I'd be happy to come back.

Four Square supermarket is right across the road and stays open late. The separate backpackers building was comfortable and pretty well kitted out, with solid wooden bunk beds that made for a decent sleep. It was quiet while I was there, and there were large lounge rooms and a kitchen.
