Waihi Beach Hotel

The food was amazing, and even though the menu is simple, they do every part of it really well. We booked dinner for 10 at Mazzola’s restaurant and were asked if we could arrive half an hour later than planned. There was a very large group being served when we got there, but the staff had clearly thought about how that might affect our service. The guy running front of house was excellent and accommodating. We’ll be back!

It’s inspiring to see young people take real pride in their work. The young Indian lady behind the bar is so switched on, fast, and efficient, and she serves everyone with a lovely smile. Her customer service is excellent. She’s happy to help deliver drinks to customers, understands the working environment, and shows confident leadership. Keep up the amazing work.

The bathrooms were unclean, with puddles throughout, and the pub quiz night felt disorganised. The pub smelled damp and musty, mixed with cigarette smoke. We ordered food, but it was just deep-fried frozen supermarket food, and the price was high for that quality. Drinks came in plastic cups. This wasn’t the experience we’d hoped for. I hope it improves. 😞

When I couldn’t get home during the flooding on Wednesday, you went out of your way to help me. You were pleasant and kind, and I appreciate the assistance more than I can say. Thank you so much.
