Picton has plenty of charm and deserves more than a quick stop before the Wellington ferry. The Bay Vista Waterfront Motel at Waikawa Bay is a lovely place to slow down, with sea views, a pretty garden, and a peaceful feel. Mani keeps the rooms spotless and well cared for. There are washing machines and lots of parking, and Jolly Roger at the nearby harbour is another good reason to linger. This feels like somewhere to stay for a while, rather than just pass through. Highly recommended.

We stayed in room 2 for one night. It had a king bed and a single, and with four of us the youngest slept on the couch. Even in the rain, the waterfront view was breathtaking.

We had a comfortable stay and found everything we needed. Check-in was easy, and the staff were really friendly. The spot is peaceful but still close to central Picton. We also ate at The Jolly Roger, about a ten-minute walk away, and got a 10% discount for staying at the Bay Vista. Lovely place and lovely view.

Rachel and her team made us feel very welcome, and the rooms were immaculate with everything we needed. Waking up to the calm, beautiful bay view was a highlight. So far, this is our favourite place we've stayed in New Zealand.

We arrived off the ferry at 1am, and the staff kindly left our room open so we could get in. In the morning there was a gorgeous view of Picton. The room was very clean and tidy, coffee bags were provided, and the owner was so kind. A really easy, good experience. Highly recommend.
