Alpine Junction Townhouse Apartments

The lodge room was very basic, and we’re not sure it was what we thought we’d paid for. It was conveniently close to town and much quieter than we expected, but this isn’t the kind of accommodation we’d choose. We’ve had much better rooms elsewhere in NZ for a similar price.

There are plenty of local shops and cafes within easy walking distance, which was handy. The place was clean and pretty good, with nice showers and bathroom facilities. The mini fridge was noisy and could bother light sleepers, though over our two nights it wasn’t a big issue. I’d definitely come back.

The on-site patisserie had great pastries and coffee, and there’s a nice river walk nearby. It takes around 5-10 minutes by car to reach Wanaka town centre. Our small room was comfortable and had what we needed, and the shared kitchen and sitting area worked well. Check-in was handled by a friendly staff member. The glass door faced a walkway and parking area, so we kept the blind down for privacy, which made the door awkward to use. We used the exit into the communal areas instead.

The bedroom and bathroom were clean and cosy, and the place is easy to get to, with cafes and a convenience store right next door. Wanaka town is about an eight-minute drive away if you have a car. I’d happily sleep here again, 10/10.
