DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington

We stayed for two nights with our two young kids and were delighted with the visit. A lovely receptionist let us check in early after our schedule changed and we arrived ahead of time. The kids were tired, especially my daughter, who had just been discharged from ER before we went straight to the airport to fly to Wellington. The room had plenty of space for them to run and play, and we all had a comfortable stay.

The room was lovely and had a luxurious feel, and the location is amazing. Breakfast was the weak point. It wasn’t especially busy, but hot dishes were slow to come back and some were often missing. The juices didn’t get replenished, there was only one toaster, and at times there weren’t any plates. Pretty mediocre. The server was kind, though.

The team really made the stay. Every staff member I met was a delight, and I’d be very happy to come back. It’s a modern hotel right in the centre of Lambton Quay, with good-sized, clean, well-laid-out rooms. They also leave complimentary chocolates and bottled water in each room, along with a great tea selection.

My wife and I had a short eight-day holiday in NZ recently, with one day in Wellington. She booked our Valentines and Wedding Anniversary dinner at the Double Tree by Hilton restaurant, about a 10-minute walk from where we were staying. The restaurant is on the 1st floor of the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, right in central Wellington. We had a fixed three-course meal, with complimentary champagne on arrival, which was a lovely gesture. The food was absolutely delicious, and every staff member gave first-class service. We couldn’t have asked for a more memorable anniversary and Valentines evening. We thanked the hotel management before leaving. Highly recommended, and a must-try if you’re in this part of Wellington NZ. We look forward to visiting again on our next trip to NZ.
