Hotel Room @ 89 Courtenay Place

We found a good spot here and would return. Our self-contained, self-serviced flat on the 9th floor, booked through booking.com, had comfortable beds, great views, and a good shower. We only tried the hotel's buffet breakfast, which was good. There were quite a few places to eat and drink nearby.

The front desk staff were very friendly, and we had no complaints. Our room was a decent size, with a nice bathroom and a great shower. The buffet breakfast had eggs, sausages, cold cuts, potatoes, and the usual sort of options, so it was easy to get a big meal before starting the day. It's close to Te Papa and other attractions. I'd highly recommend it.

I've stayed at Oaks Hotel several times, and although the room was great last night and reception staff are great, breakfast was appalling. When I went for tea, they said they'd run out of milk. The scrambled eggs had just come out of the kitchen but were cold, and the bacon and sausage were very poor quality. Breakfast has really gone downhill. Unfortunately, after recommending the hotel before, I won't recommend it again.

The modern fit-out includes a good TV with casting, and the room was spacious with a comfortable bed in a great location. The towels, though, were badly stained and looked as if they hadn't been washed. When we called reception, they asked us to bring them down ourselves to exchange them because housekeeping was limited. The car park is also very tight.
