Quest on Lambton

I couldn’t wait to leave after just one night. The blinds were filthy, the furniture was rough and old, and the cup I picked up for water was dirty, as if it hadn’t been washed after the last guests. The seal around the shower base was grimy and mouldy, and the knife block on the kitchen bench was greasy. My work colleague stayed in another room, and theirs was no better, maybe worse. This place is an absolute dump. I had better student flats back at university. Do not stay here.

We had a great stay and will definitely return. The rooms were clean and well equipped, and the location was fantastic, close to everything we needed. We loved the bathroom products, although their dispenser was tricky to use. The receptionists were all very friendly and accommodating, as were the room service staff.

We all slept very poorly. The mattress was bad, and noise insulation was poor, so we could hear the street and neighbouring rooms. When the wind blew, which was all the time, one of the doors rattled on its own. The building, or at least the parts we saw, felt tired and dated, and the lifts rattled as they moved and felt scary. On the plus side, the location was great, the balcony had a good view, and our room was a decent size for three people and relatively clean.

I paid $25 in the lobby and was directed to park across the road at Wilson Parking. The property doesn’t have a secured car park. When I picked up the car early the next morning, a window had been smashed and items were stolen. The police didn’t care when I reported it. The hotel said it would follow up, but I never heard back. Wilson Parking told me there was no CCTV in the parking area, so I took the loss and claimed through my own insurer. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you’re driving.
