Travelodge Hotel Wellington

We were quite happy with the Wellington Travelodge. The price we paid was very competitive compared with other city hotels, and the staff were helpful and courteous. Our room was on a high floor, which made for a very quiet stay. The bathroom was terrific. The central location was convenient, and we thought the laneways access was terrific. The room looked modern but was showing some wear. It was clean and tidy.

Getting around was easy, with the stadium, shops, supermarket, food spots, cable car, train and bus station all within walking distance. The stay itself didn’t work for me. The receptionist made me feel like my questions were a waste of her time. In the bunk room, the bunks wobbled, there was barely room for personal things, and the shower leaked and only ran extremely hot. Ventilation was poor, and towels weren’t included, so you had to hire one. The kitchen was a decent size, but without dish towels washing up was difficult. The dining lounge smelled and felt unclean. I wouldn’t stay again.

The harbour view was amazing, and the location couldn’t have suited us better. The staff were lovely, and our room, though a little dated, was very clean. Only small annoyances: the bowls were about the size of saucers, and there wasn’t a caffeine-free tea option. We’d stay again.

Reception told me they already knew that TV1 and TV2 weren’t working in any of the rooms. I’d also have liked to know before booking that there’d be no dinner or room service on Friday and Saturday. I chose the place because the room was advertised as soundproof, yet I could hear the person next door pacing all evening, then taking a shower for about ten minutes at around 9:10 pm.
