Whitianga Motel

A cosy, tidy little unit that was just right for two on a long weekend away from Auckland. The hosts were lovely and communicated well, and the location was great, less than 200 metres from the main street and esplanade. Highly recommended.

Ross was friendly, helpful, and great to chat with. The units are tidy, and although the facilities are older, they suit the price well. It’s in a great location. We’ll be back as soon as we can, and definitely recommend it. Thanks for the hospitality.

The room at Whitianga Motel was very clean and had everything we needed, whether for a short visit or a longer stay. The owners were friendly and accommodating, and it’s an easy walk to The Esplanade or Main Street for shops and restaurants. We had a great stay and would happily come back.

Ross was welcoming from the start and gave us plenty of tips about the area, including lesser-known places and some excellent restaurant suggestions. One spot he recommended served some of the best fish and chips I’ve had, and I’m English. He also lent guests spades for Hot Water Beach, where you can dig a pool in the sand around a hot spring. They charge $10 per spade on the beach, but Ross has three you can borrow for free. There’s a very nice BBQ available too, although it wasn’t mentioned in the listing. The motel is close to the pier, town, and other tourist spots. When the sports bar closed its pool table, Ross even got us signed into the local social club so we could play. He went out of his way to make sure we had a good time, and that meant a lot. He also does a lot of good youth work in the community, so staying here is a chance to support someone doing good locally. Thanks for the hospitality, Ross. We had the best time. Kia Ora!
