Sama Ras Al Jinz Hotel

The only thing missing in the rooms was mosquito spray. We had a lovely time at Sama Ras Al Jinz Ecolodge, with welcoming, attentive reception staff and a property that’s clearly well cared for. Being surrounded by nature made it feel peaceful and different, and we enjoyed seeing the camels, donkeys, and cats around the lodge. One friendly cat was especially sweet and made our stay feel even more special. I hope they keep looking after all the animals there.

The remote setting is part of what makes Sama Ras Al Jinz Ecolodge appealing, though it’s worth arriving prepared. Bring personal essentials, plan fuel stops, and expect few commercial facilities nearby. Insects and shifts between daytime and nighttime temperatures can also come with the desert, especially in cooler seasons. This is a simple nature stay, rather than a place focused on luxury services. What stays with you are the quiet desert surroundings, traditional huts, and dark skies full of stars. The rustic bungalow style fits the landscape, and the evenings feel calm, with soft lighting, cool air, and only distant wind and waves to break the silence. It’s also close enough for turtle watching trips at night or early in the morning. For a slower stay near Ras Al Jinz, with a sense of Oman’s eastern coastal wilderness, it offers a peaceful, memorable way to be close to nature.

The room TV wasn’t working, and the minibar was empty. The staff were friendly and the service was good, while dinner and breakfast came as buffets with good-quality Omani dishes. Breakfast had less variety than dinner and could be improved. The Standard and Deluxe rooms share a traditional feel, but differ in size and bathroom setup: the Standard has a standing shower, while the Deluxe has a bathtub. The first three photos show the Deluxe room and the next two the Standard. If you like a more modern, minimalist look, the Superior rooms may suit you better. The photos and videos say a lot. It was a memorable stay.

We loved the outdoor cinema, especially with popcorn, and the turtle reserve is only a few minutes away. We saw baby turtles there. Our cabana was spacious and really comfortable, the food was great, and the staff were so warm and friendly. The place also looks beautiful in the evening with all the cozy lights. We really loved staying here and would highly recommend it!
