Golden Palm Oasis

Our room was clean and cool with the A/C already on, such a relief after the heat outside. We also loved swimming in the desert pool. The water felt fresh, not cold or warm, and the lap cat was a bonus. We had asked for a transfer since our rental car was 2WD, but somehow we missed the parking spot where we were meant to meet our driver and got stuck in the sand. The driver appeared almost right away, helped get us unstuck and park, then took us to camp. He was also our guide for the sunset dune bashing, which was super fun. He was professional and kind, and adjusted how he drove based on how we were feeling. I’d definitely recommend him as a guide. The personnel were super nice and responsive. I’d read comments saying they give guests looks and make them uncomfortable, but that wasn’t true for us. We were the only two guests during our stay, and they checked in from time to time, either from a distance or to ask if we liked the food or wanted more bread or juice. No bad looks or discomfort. The guys were lovely and professional, and we tried to be nice customers too. Even though we were their only guests, we had plenty of fresh, tasty food, including vegan options, at dinner and breakfast. They invited us to a special round coffee table with a sweet surprise by the campfire. That’s when I realized they’d arranged it just for us. We felt pampered. If I went back to Wahiba Sands tomorrow, I’d pick Golden Palm Oasis again without a doubt.

We’ve traveled for more than 8 years across many continents and countless beautiful countries, but the sunset here left us speechless. I’ve never seen a more stunning one. The place feels magical, like a piece of paradise. Fuad, the manager, was incredibly kind and attentive. He was there for us around the clock, even in the middle of the night, and never left a single wish unfulfilled. The food was excellent, traditional, and authentic. The rooms had everything we needed, though if you’re looking for luxury, this isn’t the place. Staying here made me realize I don’t need that. We nearly didn’t book because of the negative reviews, and that would have been a huge mistake. Please stop writing bad reviews, because this place deserves nothing but love.

The property could do with a fresh coat of paint, but the owner and his team more than make up for that. They took excellent care of the guests and did everything they could to accommodate us. The food and breakfast were very good, which is why I gave it 5 stars.

The one good thing might be the sand dunes and sunset view. Otherwise, there was almost nothing to do, and the place felt practically dead. The room was missing basic equipment, and the back door didn’t even have a lock. The food was very average, nothing special. There were almost four families at the resort while we were there, and for some reason we felt watched the whole time. I’ll keep it simple: don’t waste your money here, it’s not worth trying.
