The shower was the biggest problem: the pressure was extremely low, and hardly any water came through the showerhead, so it was difficult to wash properly. We were otherwise satisfied. The rooms were tidy, breakfast tasted good, and the beach is directly behind the hotel, though it was heavily polluted. That seems to be a common issue in the country and isn’t solely the hotel’s fault. The breakfast selection was limited, even though the food was good. We also weren’t sure the furnishings and buffet met our expectations for a four-star place.

The service was eager and friendly, but the food was a mixed bag. The king fish was frozen, the calamari wasn’t up to standard, and the shrimp were small but okay. The chicken biryani was really spicy, even though we specifically asked for no hot spices. We came for the highly rated dhow restaurant, but they were focused on the hotel guest buffet, and the items from the dhow cart were no longer available.

The staff are very good, especially the waiting staff, who made the stay much more pleasant. I went to the barbecue night, and the food shouldn’t be grilled right down to the coal because it affects the taste. The hotel is a bit tired and needs updates, but it’s still the best option on the island compared with the others around.

The team welcomed us with smiles and went out of their way to look after us. Check-in included a refreshing drink, and the chalet was very well organized, with an amazing room size and setup. Masira Island Resort is on the Fine Masira island. I was surprised by the food and service. We had a seafood platter for lunch and a burger, then an amazing barbecue night with delicious seafood from the island. The price was affordable and the place is unique. I’d recommend coming to discover this resort.

The hotel is clean, but the furniture is very old-fashioned and needs a major change. Wi-Fi is poor. Breakfast isn’t really made at the hotel apart from a fried egg, and the rest comes from a local bakery.
