The location is good, but I can’t think of another positive. My room wasn’t clean, and there was leftover biryani in the bed. I woke up to a strong cigarette smell coming from the other rooms. The shower barely worked, and there was no warm water.

We were at Uni Hotel for Oman’s National Day and got to see the fireworks at Qurum Beach. It was fantastic, and only a five-minute walk to the venue at night. The hotel is dated, but clean enough, and the rooms are spacious enough for a small family.

I booked a Deluxe Suite, but it felt more like a third-class lodge. The furniture was outdated, the interiors dull, and the upkeep poor. The building is extremely old and badly maintained, and for the price, the atmosphere was far below what I expected. We waited half an hour for towels and soap. Definitely not worth a stay if you want comfort or quality accommodation in Muscat.

The front desk was helpful, and they insisted we look at the room before checking in so we’d know what to expect. Once you check in, though, the booking is non-refundable. The location is amazing, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach. My bed was surprisingly spotless and there were no bugs, but the room, especially the bathroom, was very dirty. The shower was in poor condition, the water smelled strongly of sulfur, and the AC was loud and kept cutting in and out. I’d only recommend it if cost is your main concern and you’re willing to give up amenities and cleanliness for the cheapest place to stay a few nights.
