Ajwan Hotel Apartments

A good choice for families, with nice staff and good service. If you'd like to cook your own meals, this place works well. Just be aware there aren't any restaurants nearby, roughly 500 to 700 metres away.

For people staying long term, the location is handy, near two supermarkets, Salalah Park, and the city centre. The residence itself is good, but when the hotel is full the yard gets very dirty and the pool becomes too crowded to recommend using. During the heavy Khareef rain in 2016, the place flooded with water up to hip height, and it took almost a week to drain. Still, that part was fun!

The staff were friendly, and the plumbing was almost perfect. The breakfast room was unappealing, though the food itself was fine. At first glance the hotel seemed rundown and needed a lot of paint; the room looked all right until I took a closer look, then it fell below standard. For self-catering, there weren't enough cups, cutlery, or dining chairs for the number of guests. The beds were horrible, and our stove only had one small working burner. We paid 20 OMR for an extra bed, though it costs 15 at the hotel itself. Maybe I'm being too critical because I've stayed at Hilton and Crown plaza, but guests should still get a clean place that feels good to be in, with the things they need. I'd give this hotel two stars.
