Al Thabit Hotel Apartment

It's decent for the price, basically what you'd expect to get for what you pay. The room is basic, and there isn't much else to say about the lodging. We had a corner room with a view of the water. You can walk to a beach, and there are lots of nearby restaurants, a grocery store, and a bus stop. They also provide water refills.

The kitchen isn't fit to use, and the bathroom needs maintenance, especially the iron parts. The room was very dirty, with a bad smell from the hot-feeling sofa and carpet. The air conditioners were old and dirty too.

There wasn't breakfast, or tea, coffee, or even a kettle in the room. Still, we got a huge, clean room with three separate comfortable beds, a big bathroom, and a TV with hundreds of Arabic channels plus a few English ones. The powerful A/C cooled it down just as much as we wanted. Reception staff were fantastic, and the lads even made coffee for us. There was free parking in front of the building, and shops and restaurants nearby. Sur Beach is about a 10-minute fast walk away. I also liked the blue light bulb in the room that we could switch on. A nice hotel in Sur that doesn't cost much.

We still haven't heard back from the hotel, and our experience with it has been very disappointing. The customer service and follow-up were nonexistent. My wife booked three rooms for five people through Agoda on April 6th, for one night on Sunday, May 12th at Super OYO 111 Al Thabit Hotel. The hotel took the money for all three rooms from our account on May 8th. Then on May 9th, Agoda emailed to say the hotel had cancelled the booking and offered either a refund or for Agoda to find a similar hotel. We checked ourselves too, but with only three days left before arrival, finding another hotel with three available rooms was tricky. What surprised us was that Super OYO 111 Al Thabit Hotel still showed three rooms available for May 12th, but at double the price we had booked a month earlier. They apparently couldn't accommodate us at our rate, but could if we paid twice as much. We contacted Agoda, but there was nothing they could do. We also messaged the hotel directly and got no reply. Since the hotel charged us one day before cancelling, we weren't completely sure what was going on. We can't say whether the hotel itself is great or awful, but charging us, cancelling a few hours later, then showing those rooms online at double the price is very unprofessional.
