Best Western Sur

The shower was hard to use because the water pressure was so low. Breakfast was okay, but not very varied and mostly instant food. The people were nice, though I didn't get the special warmth I'd come to expect in Oman. It wasn't bad, just not especially good either.

This was the most expensive beer I've ever had, and the service was really bad. We wanted beers by the pool. The menu listed only half-pint draft beer at 4 riyal, so we ordered three. The waitress brought large glasses that looked like full pints. We were talking and didn't check them, then were charged 7 riyal per glass. We objected, since we'd ordered three half-pints, and she just said, "Sorry, sorry," then offered to charge 6.5 rial per glass without doing anything else. Instead of 12 riyal total for three half-pints, we paid 7 plus 2 times 6.5, or 20 riyal. The menu didn't list full pints or their price. Later, my friends complained at reception, but the manager just apologized and offered coffee at breakfast, which was already included. The waitress knew she was wrong, and they should have admitted the mistake and returned the difference. This has nothing to do with alcohol itself. BEST Western, if you want a reputation for lying to and cheating your clients, that's on you.

The food was okay if you’re fine with very basic options like eggs and pastries. The staff were kind and welcoming, but the hotel still fell short. There was an unpleasant smell throughout the property, not just in the room, like old pipes, and it lingered. The beds weren’t comfortable and gave me back pain. It’s a basic hotel with the essential amenities, fine for passing through for a night or two, but I personally wouldn’t recommend a longer stay.

I got my work done without any problems thanks to the fast WiFi. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the restaurant was great. The lobby was comfortable and quiet too. They had hot coffee at breakfast, and room service was very timely with great menu options.
