Johnny Fiestas

We ended up spending a lot of time here because it's such a welcoming, calm, simple place. Matt is really kind and helpful, and so are the friends who come by. Every day was about relaxing. You can sleep in the hostel or in a tent, and there's a great bar with drinks, plus an equipped kitchen and washing machine. Thanks, Matt!

The location earns the three stars. Las Lajas beach is really cool, and the hostel is right in front of it. The place and its organization are pretty bad, though. The owner seems disconnected from customer service and too lazy to look after the hostel. Renagh, the volunteer, is lovely and friendly with everyone. Maybe Johnny could learn from her. Cleanliness wasn't the best either. There's lots of potential here, but the owner doesn't seem to have many ideas.

The staff were so attentive and ready to help with whatever we needed, and everything was very clean. The vibe is friendly and laid-back, with the beach only about a 30-second walk away. They also work with a great professional massage therapist who gives Shiatsu right on the beach for very reasonable prices. This was honestly one of the highlights of my whole trip, and I'd definitely recommend the hostel. Be sure to try the fish tacos!

Everything worked well here, from the staff and food to the location. A lovely place to slow down, surf or bodyboard, and take long walks along the empty beach.
