The beach at the hotel is beautiful, but the rest of our stay was below standard. For $150 a night, it felt more like a hostel than a hotel. It needs a lot of maintenance, and the pool wasn't open while we were there. Our room had just a bed, with no fridge, water, coffee, or anything else provided. The shower gel and shampoo were cheap. The beach restaurant charged $18 per burger, but the food was nowhere near worth that price. The burgers tasted like camp food, not gourmet. We found other restaurants on the island for half the price with much better food. The beach bar played its own music loudly from early in the morning. At breakfast, we had to listen to whatever the staff wanted instead of the waves and birds, which is usually part of why you travel to an island. I asked them to turn it off, but they refused even though we were the only guests having breakfast. I was pretty shocked. I'd suggest Mar Y Oro, where the service and rooms are much better and it's actually a little cheaper.
