La Romantica

Robert was a great host, full of information about the island and really friendly. The big, delicious breakfast is served on a private back balcony overlooking the forest, where we saw Neques and deer grazing every day. Our room was clean and modern, with a great shower and a small bar fridge. There’s also a shared cool tub that’s perfect for cooling off at the end of the day. Thanks again, Robert. Highly recommend this little hotel.

The quiet location made it easy to walk all over the island without hiring a golf cart, and staying here was the highlight of our Panama trip. Carlos was kind and helpful, and speaks perfect English. Laura was also so sweet and happy to bring extras when we asked, including more of the delicious sangria she made when we first arrived. Breakfast was amazing. Along with the full meal, they brought bread and a platter of ham and cheese, which we used to make sandwiches. There’s a 10% discount for paying in cash.

Carlos, who speaks fluent English, took us around the island when we arrived, and both he and Laura were friendly, accommodating, and knew the area well. Paying in cash got us a 10% discount. We were there midweek, when the hotel and island were nearly empty, though apparently weekends get much busier. The breakfast option cost extra but was well worth it: fruit, eggs with a choice of meat, toast and jelly, a meat and cheese platter, orange juice, and coffee or tea. There was plenty left over each day, enough to save for lunch. This is a small hotel near the top of Contadora Island. The rooms are clean and have AC, wifi, a fridge, private bathrooms, and large windows. There’s comfortable seating in the shared indoor and outdoor areas. Two downsides: the king bed takes up so much space there’s no large dresser or much room for belongings, and the hot tub was broken.

The breakfast was delicious, and the rooms were in good condition. Thomas and Harry were so kind and helpful to my two friends and me during our wonderful three-night stay at La Romantica. If Harry is still there when you visit, ask him to cook lunch or dinner. You won’t be disappointed. If you need somewhere to stay on Isla Contadora, look no further!
