You’re paying for the location, not the accommodation. Reef hostel is hardly a hotel. It’s next to bars, restaurants, and shops, but it’s noisy and you have to climb loads of stairs to reach your room. Luckily, I stayed only 1 night.

I was there in December, and both the hotel and Expedia charged me. I haven’t been able to reach the hotel, and Expedia has tried too without any luck. The rooms were too small, and the sheets were so thin they were almost see-through, like they’d been washed a thousand times. The hotel feels dated for the price. Breakfast was cold because the women preparing it did so in advance so they’d have time to use their phones. Out of all the hotels on this trip, I was very disappointed with this choice.

The central spot is handy, and my room had air conditioning, a private bathroom, and a good view of the main St and park. But it has a cheap hotel feel, with lots of stairs, very basic facilities, and plenty of noise. The bed was bad, the pillows lousy, and the shower didn’t work well, though the water was hot.

There’s a guest kitchen and a really nice rooftop terrace. The rooms were clean and air conditioned, with hot water. Recommendable.
