The host kindly drove us to the property. It’s a beautiful place with tasteful design, and the bed was really comfortable. There was no breakfast included, though. The bungalow has an open layout with screens all around, top to bottom, and we didn’t have any flies inside. But it sits quite close to the host’s house and the neighbor’s, so we felt short on privacy when people came and went right in front of us. Apart from that, it was a nice stay.
The guest houses are tucked away quietly in the jungle, and it’s only a short walk to calm, private swimming spots on the beach. We loved the peaceful setting. When we went into Bocas Town for supplies, we were glad we’d chosen this place. Monkeys and tropical birds can get noisy at times, but that’s nature. We prefer those sounds to taxi horns, ATVs, and constant loud music.
I always look forward to coming back. It’s a lovely escape, with a hillside sanctuary feel even though town is just a bike ride away. There are ocean glimpses, lush trees and gardens, birds, butterflies, and plenty of peace and quiet. This place is gorgeous.
Expedia still showed our booking as “Booked. No need to reconfirm,” even after the owner told us she had rejected our reservation there within 72 hours of booking. We’d decided to check with her anyway. The Expedia listing says up to 3 kids are allowed, but apparently there’s an undisclosed rule against children under 6. The poor communication and disorganization left us scrambling to find another place during high season. Book with caution.
The casitas are lovely, and Heather clearly knows what she’s doing. The setting is perfect, with jungle gardens, but it doesn’t feel so isolated that I’m uncomfortable. I love this place.
