S Boutique Hotel

The setting is wonderfully scenic: wild Bluff Beach on one side, with the waves roaring constantly, and tropical jungle on the other. Exotic birds, including toucans and small parrots, sing in the mornings, and seeing a sloth on the way is nothing unusual. It's a cozy property with 15 rooms, a quiet, intimate feel, and a small pool with loungers for relaxing after a busy day. My room was spacious, with a comfortable bathroom, air conditioning, a fan, and a good bed. I liked the terrace overlooking the pool, though its connection to neighboring rooms meant limited privacy. I missed having a small table and armchair, which would have made the room more comfortable. The safe wasn't fixed in place, which concerned me. There was also an unpleasant damp smell, like an old cellar. Airing out the room helped, but only briefly. The staff tried to be friendly, though I had the impression the personnel changed almost every day. Benny deserves a special mention for being capable, dedicated, and consistently helpful. The owner was often around too, which made it easier to sort things out, although some matters took a little while. Breakfast was à la carte, fairly simple, and in my view needed fresh vegetables. The restaurant served lunch and dinner from a short menu at reasonable prices. Another restaurant was about 300 m away. If you're driving, expect a 6 km road with lots of potholes, and large puddles in some places during heavy rain or high tide. It's a very relaxing place, and the shortcomings I mentioned seem fairly easy to address. Definitely worth a visit.

The staff's warmth and service made our honeymoon unforgettable. Benny, the hotel supervisor/manager, especially went out of his way to help, gave us great tips, and made sure we had what we needed. The whole team was so friendly. We arrived to find a bottle of wine waiting to celebrate our honeymoon, a really thoughtful gesture. The room was spotless and comfortable, the swimming pool was beautiful, and the food prepared by chef Jen was very good. We also rented a scooter right at the hotel, which was convenient. Until recently, you had to arrange that in town, so having it on site is a great addition. We had an amazing, memorable honeymoon here. Our high expectations were absolutely exceeded.

The staff were attentive throughout, and the food was excellent. The property is new, very clean, and well looked after, and our room had a large terrace with lovely views. We had a perfect few days in a fantastic spot on Bluff beach. We'd happily recommend it and hope to return soon.

We wanted a relaxing break surrounded by nature, and this was just the place. The beach was beautiful during the off season, with no waves, and from our room's large terrace we watched animals each morning before breakfast. The pool area was also lovely, and wildlife could be seen from there. The food was delicious, much better than the restaurants we tried in bocas town. We stayed five nights in low season, so the hotel was very quiet. Everyone was super friendly, and we especially liked Benny, who showed us sloths, toucans, and monkeys and shared lots of advice. We rented a bike from the hotel for a day and rode to Playa Estrella. It was very nice, though the road is a mix of sand and rocks.
