Gran Hotel Azuero

The location worked well, and the staff were kind, friendly, and always willing to help. The rooms were clean but very basic, with no mini fridge or coffee pot. There's a pharmacy next door, and Ivan was especially helpful and friendly. I'd recommend staying here.

The pool was a real highlight, magnificent and refreshing after a warm day. My room looked out over the pool area, and it was clean and comfortable. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent, and the staff were helpful and friendly.

Our poolside balcony was noisy, with loud music and kids screaming, even though we were told it would be quieter than the street side. The rooms were very clean, and there's good WiFi, a quiet bar, and a large pool. The restaurant was okay for the price. I'd still recommend the hotel.

The pool closes at 6pm, and nobody can use it again until the next day. With Chitré's nice weather, it'd be great to take a dip at night. That's why I'm holding back a fifth star. The location is a good middle ground, neither in the city nor far outside it. Lobby and restaurant staff were a huge asset: friendly and professional, always greeting us, helping with check-in and our luggage. The rooms were a comfortable size, the mattresses were very comfortable, the A/C worked well, and fresh complimentary water bottles were added each day. Christmas dinner was delicious, and the lobby was beautifully decorated. If your budget allows, choose a lower-level room by the pool and enjoy a nap in your own hammock.
