Breakfast was freshly made, with pancakes and fruit, and the staff were friendly. This is a well-kept, very clean hostel right in the middle of the volcano crater, with a supermarket across the street and the main hiking trails easy to reach on foot. You can see a huge sleeping indian in the mountains and even climb it. 10/10, I recommend 🇵🇦🌋🗿💤

We joined a sunrise hike organized by the volunteers, then had breakfast back at the hostel. That day's meal was toast and fruit, which wasn't very filling after the hike. I would have liked a choice, maybe scrambled eggs. The room was modest, but we enjoyed our stay. Payment was cash only in USD while we were there. It's still a fairly good place if you want to enjoy the valley.

The breakfast was free and delicious, with eggs, corn tortillas, fresh fruit, and banana pancakes with homemade strawberry syrup. I definitely indulged. The outdoor lounge was my favorite spot, and the other lounge areas were well lit and decorated. Staff were kind and friendly, and went out of their way to answer my questions. There's also a book of activities and a WhatsApp group for coordinating things in el valle. The location was fantastic, the beds and sheets were clean and comfortable, and the rooms and toilets were cleaned daily. WiFi was fast and reliable. Laundry is available for a fee, and the 10:00PM to 8:00AM quiet hours really helped me sleep. There were cockroaches in the lockers and bedroom, so pest treatment is needed. Hot water was intermittent, suddenly going cold in the shower and returning a few minutes later. That was less of an issue in the daytime, but nights were chilly. One night there was no hot water at all, and I couldn't shower before bed.

The location is very central, and the staff are super friendly. The hostel is nice, though rooms can get a little loud since it's on the main street. Breakfast is very basic. They also offer a shuttle to St. Catalina.
