Hotel Contadora

The people here are wonderful, but the hotel was horrible. The sheets were dirty, the bathroom filthy, the internet unreliable, and there was no hot water. I met the owner, a Frenchman, on my last night and told him about the problems. He got angry and said the lack of hot water was clearly posted on his website. It absolutely wasn't. If it was there at all, it was in VERY fine print. I would NEVER tell anyone, especially friends, to stay here. Beautiful people, except for the owner.

Contadora is a good island to visit, but I won't be returning to this hotel. It was under construction while we were there, and the booking listing hadn't mentioned that. There was lots of dirt, so the place wasn't clean, and the water and electricity kept disappearing. We could have accepted all of that if we'd been told beforehand and had the chance to choose. The owner wasn't very cooperative either.

At sunset, this is a great place on the main road to have a Balboa, hear reggaeton, and watch golf carts and work trucks pass by. The little one-person kitchen beside the patio has a much bigger menu than you'd expect. I had a really tasty stewed pork, corn, and beans dish served over a patacon patty.

Never again. I was here with my friend, and we were scared as hell. The location was bad, the atmosphere weird, and the people around there made us uncomfortable. It didn't feel safe at all.
