Morrillo Beach Eco Resort

Getting to know Cari and Ryan was one of the best parts for me. They’re both great fun to be around, and we couldn’t have been more impressed by Morrillo Beach Eco Resort. The privacy, beauty, and chance to learn about such a special place made this unforgettable for all of us. We had an amazing New Year’s Eve dinner in a setting that felt uniquely special, and several of us called it the best meal we’d ever had. Cari and the kitchen staff also put in a huge effort to plan and prepare safe food for the two celiac members of our group. They did a great job, and all the food was excellent. We had a wonderful visit full of fun outings: getting up at dawn to release a new hatch of baby turtles into the ocean, waterfall hikes, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, and visiting the abuelas. The grandkids especially loved surfing and pickleball. The area is beautiful, with gorgeous scenic vistas. Thank you to Cari and Ryan for making such a memorable trip possible.

We had an epic week surfing with friends and felt really well cared for. The owners and staff were so welcoming and kind, and even fixed a flat tire for us after a screw got stuck in it. Planning was easy because our questions got quick answers. The resort has a treehouse feel, with room balconies overlooking the trees. We enjoyed learning about the local wildlife and the Primate Rescue Center. The location is beautiful and uncrowded. I also appreciated that they put out bags for beach cleanups and designed the hotel thoughtfully to protect local resources. We had so much fun meeting everyone and are really grateful for the experience.

The food was a highlight for me, with family recipes, thoughtful preparation, and lots of flavor. Our spacious, comfortable room had a balcony where I could sit and listen to the monkeys calling to each other. The staff welcomed us warmly after the long shuttle ride, showed us around the property, and explained what to expect. My wife and I spent a week at Morrillo Beach Eco Resort, filling our days with guided jungle hikes, baby turtle releases, surfing, and a visit to a Panamanian homestead where we heard family stories and shared a meal. We felt we were getting the most out of what Panama had to offer. If you want to immerse yourself in Panamanian culture and come away with stories for years, this is a must visit.

Cari and Ryan, along with their talented, personable team, made our first stay at Morrillo Beach Eco Resort feel like an extended visit with fascinating old and new friends. We felt welcomed and relaxed, and loved the limited number of guests and comfortable rooms. Each day brought plenty of fresh, locally sourced food, along with engaging activities that immersed us in Panama’s culture and ecology. We met Panamanians who were proud and happy to share their stories and teach us their language. We also learned about native plants and animals, especially monkeys, which Cari and Ryan work hard to protect. Their personal attention and deep local knowledge, paired with the beautiful countryside and Pacific coast, made this a truly memorable way to experience Panama. We highly recommend it.
