Amarla Boutique Hotel Casco Viejo Adults Only

The staff were helpful and exceptionally friendly throughout my stay, always making sure things were right. The food was first class, especially the 8 course tasting menu. Its local dishes were carefully selected, creative, full of flavor, and very well executed. I stayed in the Two Story Superior Suite (Estée Lauder Edition) at the Amarla Hotel in Casco Viejo. It was spacious, beautifully designed, and felt very exclusive. The details were thoughtfully chosen, and the whole stay was truly special.

Breakfast was tasty, and we enjoyed dinner at the hotel too. Still, the stay didn’t live up to the price or the expectations set by the beautiful photos. Our room was pretty, but we found small insects in the bed and a black stain on the bedding. There was no bottle of water, and although we were a couple, there was only one toothbrush. We booked the Amarla Hotel for our honeymoon because we wanted something special. After the long trip back from the San Blas Islands, nobody offered us a welcome drink. For a hotel in this category, I feel that should be standard. Construction right next door caused a lot of noise, and we hadn’t been warned in advance. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have booked. There was only a small note in the room. The courtyard that looks lovely in pictures was covered by a white tarp, so it was much less attractive in person. I was also bothered by being asked to leave a good review and mention staff members by name. Overall, it was far too expensive for what it offered.

The property was beautiful, well kept, and in a great location close to everything while still quiet. Ginnelva, Luis Q., Luis A., and Genesis were all amazing. Luis A and Luis Q were especially exceptional and delivered top-tier service. This place truly deserves five stars. It’s a gem, and I can’t wait to come back.

The only drawback was the bass from the restaurant speakers in our room, Room 1, which we could hear until the restaurant closed at 11 pm. We go to bed early, so that was tough. I’m pretty sure it was just the room’s position relative to the speaker. Otherwise, everything was perfect and we’d stay again. We loved staying at the Amarla. The room was beautiful, and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. The location was perfect for walking around Casco Viejo, and with so few rooms, the hotel felt private.
