AmazINN Places Casco Viejo Pool and Rooftop V

For the price and location, this is good value: a spacious apartment in Casco Viejo, though it’s basic rather than luxurious. The photos seem edited and are somewhat misleading. In person, the place is less memorable, and the pool is small.

The location was the one good thing, though it also meant traffic and lots of honking outside. I’d rather stay outside the center. I hope the listing on Booking is corrected and that I get some money back. When I raised the misleading description with Mauricio, he replied, “Lamento que no haya sido de su agrado, trabajaremos en ello, muchas gracias,” as if it were my problem that I didn’t like it, rather than taking responsibility. After I pointed out again that the description was false and said I would speak to Booking because they wouldn’t offer a refund, he finally offered us a room with a kitchen for the second night. It was in a different building, so we declined. What was sold as an apartment booked through Booking wasn’t an apartment at all, just a glorified room. There was a tiny fridge but no garbage bin. The listing said it had a kitchen and showed photos of one, but the kitchen was on another floor, shared with others, mostly staff, smelly, and poorly equipped. There was nowhere to eat, just a couple of low chairs and a coffee table. The rooftop was a restaurant, not a quiet, semi-private area. There were no curtains, so with people right across in another building, we had to lower the blackout blinds to change. The terrace was accessible only through the main room because the other door was closed. The bathroom had no window, and its fan came on with the light. It was so loud it woke the others when someone used the bathroom at night. The pool looked nice, but there was nowhere to sit and relax. It was very dark, with sun probably reaching it only for about 30 minutes a day. That’s when they must have taken the photo. Communication was difficult, and they didn’t want to refund us. I hope the listing is changed and I get some of my money back.

We had a great night and stay. The rooms were excellent, and the beds super comfortable. The pool is beautiful, though a little shallow. We highly recommend this place and can’t understand why some others rated it so poorly.

Cosco Viejo felt secure, with the President’s house close by, and it’s a great area. The Inn was clean, spacious, well-equipped, and stylish, with a Morrocan Antique feel. We had low water pressure, and one shower didn’t work and leaked. That wasn’t too surprising in a renovated building that’s probably hundreds of years old. We could still shower and do laundry, and everything else was great. I’d happily stay again despite the water issues. I’d much rather be somewhere with history and personality than in a steel-and-glass tower in a business district.
