Hotel Riazor

The staff were very nice and looked out for us, which is the only reason this gets even one star. We had no bedbugs, at least, but the rooms weren't great. There was no shower head, just a pipe sticking out of the wall. The AC technically worked, though it was extremely loud and went “womp womp” all night. Oddly, that noise partly covered the street noise. We booked without knowing the hotel was in the ghetto. Once we got there, we seriously considered leaving, but we were exhausted, hungry, and tired, and somehow stayed. We should have left. Check street view before booking. I know enough Spanish to understand the hotel doorman, if that's what you'd call him, telling us not to walk 500 M down the road to a restaurant because it was too dangerous. I joked about our skin color, and he said yes, that's why it was so dangerous. The hotel is right above a bar or club that plays loud music until 3 a.m., even on weeknights. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else. The beer photo is from the restaurant directly next door, the only place we were allowed to go because of safety concerns. The food and silverware were kindly wrapped in toilet paper.
