The apartment was modern, new, and clean, with great Wi-Fi and a rooftop pool that was always clean. Wynwood communicated clearly and promptly. The first Wi-Fi password I received was outdated because it had reset, but the current one was on the bottom of the router, so it was no big deal. I stayed during the third week of January at La Cuadra, on the edge of Casco Viejo. The building has security around the clock to let guests in. I found parking one block away with 24/7 access for $75 a week, though driving isn't ideal unless you need to. Many units are also listed on Airbnb. Wynwood manages several properties, but doesn't control the whole building. The neighborhood can be noisy at night, which is part of the local culture. Some reviews call the area unsafe, and I think it's unfair to judge local people as dangerous because they have less money. I gave a pair of shoes to an older local man, and he offered me the hat from his head to show his gratitude. If you want somewhere very quiet, upscale, and family-oriented, the Trade Hotel is two blocks away and costs three times as much, or you could stay in the new city.

The rooms and hotel itself were good, and the price was reasonable. Still, be very careful when booking, since it's near the less desirable part of El Casco Viejo. Parking is very difficult unless you use the local service, and if you're not street-smart, this might not be the right choice. Check-in was especially frustrating and took about an hour.
Check-in was a complete mess. I never got the code for the main building, and the apartment door code they sent didn't work either. Without mobile internet, I wouldn't have been able to get in at all. The host showed no responsibility for the chaos. Then, 11 days after checkout, they charged me $7 over a tiny washable mark on a pillowcase. That's outrageous and unacceptable. Trying to squeeze money out of guests like that says a lot about how they operate. This place is unprofessional, unreliable, and doesn't respect its guests. Book somewhere else.
The apartment and the price were acceptable, and when a few things needed fixing, the service was quick to respond. It's in the heart of San Felipe, near the nightlife, so it may not suit anyone looking for a quiet stay.
I didn't feel safe enough to stay and left as soon as I checked in. I was traveling alone, and the hallways outside were completely dark at 9 pm. My bedroom faced the main hallway and had a sliding glass door that wasn't locked when I arrived. The blinds also left a 2-3 inch gap, so anyone could see inside and watch me in bed. There was a keypad at the building, but several men who looked intoxicated were sitting around the entrance, and I felt uncomfortable coming and going alone.
