Luna's Castle Hostel

The staff were terrible, and the hostel was disgustingly organized. Music from downstairs made it impossible to sleep. If you’re considering booking here, please don’t. It was the worst place I’ve ever stayed.

The rooms were clean and had AC and personal fans, but there were no bed curtains, so there was no privacy. That’s about the only positive I can think of. I’ve stayed in nearly 100 hostels, and this was easily the worst. The downstairs restaurant played music until 5-6 a.m. every night, louder than most clubs, and it echoed through the area. Earplugs didn’t help. On the last night, the bass literally made my bed vibrate. Staff ignored every complaint. I don’t know how that can even be legal. Water was only available at certain hours, and for 3 days there was no water to flush the toilets. The constant urine smell was awful, and we had to ask for bottled water just to flush. I’ve stayed in plenty of budget places, but this felt inhumane and unlivable because of the extreme noise and lack of basic hygiene. Spend €5-10 more and sleep somewhere else. Strongly not recommended.

In nearly three months of travelling, I’ve never stayed at a hostel this bad. The bedrooms were nasty, with bugs, wood shavings on the beds, and chicken bones. Water was available only a few hours a day, and the beds were small and made of some kind of horrible plastic. When we asked for a refund, they brought out a cardboard sign hidden behind the counter saying refunds weren’t accepted. It was obviously a scam. We managed to get half our money back, but please don’t go there.

I was in a 6-bed shared dorm when staff brought a couple into the room. They had intercourse in the shared space without even closing the curtains. It was disgusting and deeply uncomfortable, especially in shared accommodation where people should have basic respect and privacy. I told the staff, but they did nothing, offered no apology, and gave no resolution. At check-in, I was also asked to pay more than the amount shown on Hostelworld, with no proper explanation. It felt misleading. This was one of my worst hostel experiences. If you care about safety, professionalism, and basic decency, I’d strongly reconsider booking here.
