My husband and I stayed at The Oasis Hotel Thursday and Friday night and had a fantastic time. The room was the highlight, huge enough to feel like a little apartment, with everything we needed as a base and a kitchen where we could cook. The hotel is dated, but that gave it character and made the local area feel more present. I’d read about noise from the rooftop bar, but I didn’t notice it during our end-of-week stay unless I strained to listen, and it didn’t affect our comfort. The staff really made the experience. We mostly dealt with a lovely woman at the front desk. I don’t speak Spanish and they didn’t speak English, but we communicated just fine. They went out of their way to handle our requests and look after us. We’ll definitely return.

We were close to restaurants and museums, an incredible location for walking around. The rooftop bar had a lovely view and delicious drinks. Our room stayed dark and quiet at night, and the AC worked really well. Highly recommend.

Our first-floor duplex was spacious, with a bathroom on each level and a small balcony looking out over the street and town. It’s close to the old town, restaurants, and bars. A few things made it less comfortable. The bedroom has no windows and feels a bit claustrophobic. The pillows were so hard and high I couldn’t use them, and I woke with a painful stiff neck in the middle of the first night. The kitchen was also far too basic, missing things like a sharp knife, chopping board, colander, and oven dish.

The rooftop bar music was so loud it shook the building, and it kept going until 3 a.m. Sleeping before then was impossible. This is the worst place I’ve stayed in years. Oasis is just a name.

We couldn’t even get checked in without waiting around for someone to appear, and the tiny counter barely passed for a front desk. Our room felt outdated, with no modern amenities, a lumpy bed, and rock-hard pillows. It was more like a run-down hostel than a hotel. The bathroom was worse. The shower swung between scalding and freezing, the grout looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned for years, and when towels were replaced, there was only one washcloth for two of us. I ended up buying extra towels at a local market. After 5 p.m. there was no staff available, so you were on your own if anything came up. The rooftop bar was the dealbreaker. The music and bass shook the walls until 2 a.m. most nights, and nearly 4 a.m. on Friday. Rest wasn’t possible. The Oasis Hotel was a miserable stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Spend your money somewhere else.
