Panama Hat Hostel

The room was really hot during the day, with no A/C or fans in either the bedroom or bathroom. The atmosphere felt weird. Most of the people staying there seemed to be long-term or permanent residents rather than tourists. One guy in the room controlled the A/C remote and was very strict about when it could be used and the temperature. Another tourist came for one night and decided to leave. We felt the same way about the strange vibe.

The beds were comfortable, with outlets close by for charging devices. I liked having two lighting options, one dimmer and one brighter, and there was plenty of room. The bathroom had soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The location was decent for getting to the coast. It cost a little more, but that was okay, since my roommates said they'd booked it for a comfortable bed and a good night's sleep before morning flights. I enjoyed talking with the staff at the hostel and restaurant. The restaurant was closed the night I stayed because of a national holiday, though I had a great lunch there the next morning and got a discount for staying at the hostel. The hot water in my room wasn't working, but it wasn't a big issue for me.

The relaxed atmosphere and perfect location brought me back to panamá hat after I returned to the city from a festival. I stayed a few nights. The restaurant and bar downstairs make the place lively at night, and the staff are super nice. Really recommendable!

The owner is a kind Italian man who speaks English, Spanish, and Italian. The hostel is in the heart of Bella Vista, one block from the Pacific Ocean and the Cinta Costera jogging and cycling path.
