Plaza Paitilla Inn Hotel

The breakfast had a huge range, from Panamanian food to American choices, with coffee and juice included. There was an omelette station, though the line meant I never got to try it. The dining staff were just as friendly and attentive as the front desk team. You could sit inside, outside, or at the bar, depending on what felt right. Espresso, cappuccino, and latte cost a little extra, which was fine with me. Our room was clean, spacious, and had an amazing view. The lobby was beautiful, and the front desk staff were patient, kind, and helpful, especially since I barely speak Spanish. The hotel is just steps from the seaside walk, so it was easy to head out and enjoy the area. We had a wonderful stay, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Panama City.

We stayed at Plaza Paitilla Inn at both the start and the end of our Panama trip. One night between those visits, while we were staying on the islands, the hotel was sold out, so we booked Hotel Infinity for the same price. That place was terrible. Plaza Paitilla Inn was beautiful and clean, with friendly staff, a great view through the big room windows, and a wonderful buffet breakfast. Just what you want for a trip. Highly recommend 👍🏽🤗

After staying in casco viejo, it was nice to get away from all the bustle here. There’s a cute outdoor area with playgrounds and a beachfront walkway, and the rooms are large, with strong water pressure, good AC and a smart TV. I didn’t think much of the breakfast, though. People raved about it, but it was mediocre at best, and I’d had better coffee and pastries at the airport. The hotel food wasn’t good either, so I wouldn’t stay in to eat.

The bedbugs were the biggest problem during our two week stay in December. My wife reacts badly to bites, and after we saw a doctor, they confirmed bedbugs. The desk staff recognized the issue right away and moved us to another room, which made it seem like this may have happened before. They also said they disinfected our luggage, but all that involved was wiping it with a damp rag. The manager, Armaan, said the hotel would reimburse the doctor visit and prescriptions for treating the bites. He copied our receipts and said he’d sent them to accounting. For the next month, he kept telling us the credit was ready to post and would arrive the following day. It never did. That was every bit as disappointing as the bedbugs. The hotel could be good value without those problems and the broken promise. It’s conveniently located, but traffic on the Cinta Costera and Avenida Balboa, along with the hotel’s fiestas, made it noisy. Bring earplugs. The building is old but seemed in decent repair; while we were there, the breakfast and pool areas were under major renovation and unpleasant to use. Breakfast was filling but got boring after a few days, and the elevators could be slow.
