I booked because it was cheap, and you get what you pay for. The location felt safe and it's close to the metro. Cleanliness depends on your standards. The staff were nice, but although I'd read about free breakfast and a pool, nobody mentioned those at check-in. Wifi was hit or miss, better in the lobby. The room was stripped-down basic, fine if you just need a bed for a couple of nights and don't plan to spend time there. The furniture, including the headboard, nightstand, table and closet shelf, was plywood painted grey. Construction during my three-day stay gave me a headache every day, and I had to try to block it out while working remotely. I checked out for a hotel that suited my comfort better, for less than $10 more. My shower had no hot water. The AC worked great. There were no hand towels, and my towel had a red ink mark in the corner that looked like blood. The toilet handle broke but was fixed in under ten minutes. The staff I interacted with were very friendly, including two of the three receptionists, wait staff, maintenance and the housekeeper. My room was 102 and could use some TLC. There was a window in the roof facing a cement wall, so I kept the blinds down; the ground view was dirty and unappealing. The shower window was also closed, with cement walls blocking any view. The bathroom was very tight, and if you're tall your knees will hit the wall. There was nowhere to set the bath soap in the shower. I won't be coming back.

At $33 a night, everything in the room was good, but there was no window, so I couldn't tell whether it was day or night. I don't understand why a room with a window costs the same. Room service came every day, and there's a pool on the top floor.

The place was clean, the staff were very nice, and the rooftop view is pretty good. I was there Nov 1-7, during the holidays, and music blasted all night. I was lucky it was during the national holidays, or I would have asked for my refund and all that. Do not agree to stay on the 7th floor, or even the 6th or 5th, during the holidays.

Hotel Montreal is a basic place, but very clean. The linens are old, as other people have said, but clean, just like mine at home. The water gets hot and there's enough pressure for a shower. I slept well, the AC was good, and the staff were nice and accommodating. You can't go wrong for the price. I was considering giving it four stars, but the lounge was nicer than I expected, so the roof bar being closed wasn't a big deal. Hotel Montreal was better than they described, which got it the fifth star. Sorry about the photos, I hadn't cleaned up. I was rushing out to start my E cedula application after being granted Permanente Residente status.
