The owner was delightful and so patient and funny, even with my very limited Spanish. We loved our cabin and falling asleep to the ocean, and the place was quiet and peaceful. It sits right by the water, with a small pool and snorkeling straight from the dock. The mattress was old and well used, though still comfortable. WiFi worked well and the AC was cold, but the showers had only cold water. We never got food at the restaurant, so tried the excellent Black Zambombo next door instead. The bus into Portobelo stops right out front. Just know that nobody speaks English and card payments may be tricky. We’d stay again.

Our anniversary stay was fantastic, even with a storm cutting it short. My husband and I had a romantic room overlooking the Caribbean Sea, and sitting on the balcony watching the water was so calm and peaceful. We slept wonderfully in the air-conditioned room with the waves hitting the embankment, and it was spotless, bright, and had everything we needed. Our friends and their daughter loved their cabin, especially the porch with its hammock and chairs. There are several gazebos too, for privacy, a romantic moment, or just spending time by the water. The kitchen served all three meals, and every one was delicious. With the rain pouring, we were glad to eat there, though there are lots of other places to eat if you want to go out. You can swim in the sea or pool, and take boat trips to the islands for snorkeling or scuba, with rides back as well. The dock and gazebo were a lovely place to have fun with other guests, especially staff like Lusmila. The whole place is nicely set up and close to tourist spots and other places of interest. The food, lodging, and friendly people made the experience one we’ll never forget. I highly recommend Scuba Portobelo.

Snorkeling is right outside your door, and tours are available. It’s a lovely, quiet spot with a little pool and friendly people. Cash only in our experience, and no English. We’d 100% come back.

The dive shop was good, with decent equipment and a good guide. It’s outside town, but there’s a nice restaurant about a five-minute walk away. The hotel has its own restaurant too, and breakfast was great. Rooms were fine, and the coastal location is nice.
