Pelicano Hostal

Pelicano Hostal is brand new, and the owner has put real attention into the details and made us feel welcome. The rooms are basic, but very clean and comfortable, and there’s nothing more we needed. We enjoyed relaxing in the hammock outside and the lovely homemade breakfast. We had a good time and would definitely recommend it.

We arrived late at night at Pelicano Hostal with no reservation, and the kind host took us in. We hadn’t expected much, but the hostel covered all our needs: it was very clean, had great AC and delicious food, and the service went well beyond what we could afford. On a rainy day, the host arranged a horseback ride that became the highlight of our vacation. It was one of the most memorable hostals of our Panama trip. I can’t say enough nice things about the host and the hostel. I’d love to visit again.

The host made us feel so welcome, shared useful tips for enjoying Santa Catalina, and helped arrange activities. Our room was comfortable, pretty, and clean. We also spent some very pleasant, relaxing time on the beautiful terrace and in the garden. And the breakfasts were amazing.

Our room was small and basic, with cozy furniture and a fan, so don’t expect anything fancy. Robert and Vivianne keep the place clean and welcoming, and gave us great advice for our boat trip to Isla Coiba. They even packed us a lunch box. Robert’s cooking is incredible, and his Peruvian-style ceviche was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. We had a lovely stay at Pelicano Hostal. Thank you both, sending you a big hug.
