The bed was comfy, and they let us store some of our gear for the day at no cost while we climbed Machupicchu. Those were the two good things. The hotel echoed badly, with tile everywhere, so you could hear people coming and going. I didn’t sleep, and there was no hot water for a shower or even to make a drink in the foyer.

The festival on the football field next to the hotel was so loud it felt like a speaker was in our room. It went on until about 03:00, and we had to get up at 06:00 for Machu Picchu, so we had a terrible night’s sleep. Even on regular days, street vendors and the restaurant across the street make a lot of noise, though that isn’t the hotel’s fault. The hot water also stopped working at times, and we had to ask reception to provide more. The beds were good, DirectTV was available, and breakfast was okay.

We paid for a room for four but got a three bed room, and they insisted no discount was due. The service was poor. The room stayed moist, and we had to ask them to turn on the hot water for showers. This is the worst hostel I’ve stayed at. We were jealous whenever we passed the hostel next door.

I stayed in October 2019, when this newly built hostel had super clean rooms and toilets and comfortable beds. There were enough charging points in the room, and the staff spoke English and Spanish. Breakfast started at 5 am, which was great. I was on the 4th floor, where the wifi wasn’t very good, so it may be better closer to the ground floor.

After one night here, my legs started itching the next day, and it still hadn’t stopped a week and a half later. I’m concerned it was bed bugs. The place seemed decent otherwise, but the WiFi was terrible, as others have said. Towels weren’t included even though the hostel site says they are, and it was SUPER difficult to find, especially using the directions on the site. I wouldn’t stay again. The place we ate across the street was amazing, maybe Restaurant Orquideas? Definitely go eat there!
