Quilla Ecologico Inn Hotel

The owner was lovely to our two dogs and kindly let us bring them. The host and staff were kind overall. Our room and beds were clean, and the mattress was so comfortable that I slept better than I have in a while. The shower had great pressure and hot water. The location worked well, and breakfast was simple but good enough, with nice coffee.

This was the worst hostel I’ve stayed in. Our room hadn’t been cleaned: the floor was dirty, there were stains in the bathroom and on the sheets and towels, hair on the bed, and bits of food on the floor. The dining room was so filthy I couldn’t eat there. We were glad it was only one night, because otherwise we would have moved. The location seems to be the only thing keeping its reviews up. I can’t recommend it. I don’t know whether the positive reviews are from fake profiles or people who’ve never stayed somewhere clean.

The place itself was okay, but we felt badly treated by the staff. There were four of us split between two rooms. Two of us asked about staying late, and when we asked the owner what it would cost, he answered angrily, rolled his eyes, and made us feel unwelcome. We decided not to stay beyond that night. In the morning, he accused all four of us of sleeping in one room and said we owed him money, even though we had paid for two rooms. There was also so much noise at night that we couldn’t sleep. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We paid $35 for the night and only needed the room for a few hours before heading to Machu Picchu, so we weren’t expecting much. Still, the front desk service didn’t impress us. The room smelled a little, and there was plenty of loud noise from inside and outside the hotel. We would’ve been fine staying somewhere else, but it did the job for six hours of sleep.
