The staff were friendly when we actually saw them, but the front door stayed locked all day because nobody was at reception, which made getting into the hostel difficult. Service was lacking too: the toilet paper ran out a couple of times, and the bed was really uncomfortable. I’d look at other places as well.
Before heading out on our two-day Colca Canyon trek, we spent one night here. The owners were very helpful and let us leave our bags while we were away. Great service, I’d definitely recommend it.
We booked two nights here in March for a September stay, then yesterday they asked us to cancel because the rooms were occupied. It seems our room can now be rented for four times the price. There’s a mine fair in Arequipa, and apparently they can make more money from other guests, so they’re throwing us out. Shame on you, what an unsympathetic policy.
The bathroom was very clean, but our stay turned into a mess. We planned to spend two nights, then came back at 7 PM and were told there was no room for us. They packed all our things into our backpacks, so we had to find another hostel.
There was no hot water, the WiFi barely worked, and traffic on the street seemed nonstop, day and night. The toilet wouldn’t flush either. After I complained twice, I ended up filling the plastic trash can with water to flush it myself. I could go on, but don’t stay here.
