The location was great and I thought it was excellent value. The owner and his family were super friendly, and I met some nice people too. My room was huge, on the ground floor, with a nice bathroom. There’s a lovely inner yard, and an adorable kitty greeted me at the door. The old, vintage style was fine with me, as the places I stayed in Latin America were all old. This was one of my favorite stays in Peru, and I’d definitely go back if I got the chance. Before arriving I was a bit annoyed because the owner kept typing in Spanish and saying he didn’t speak English. I was exhausted and really delayed, but it turned out he does speak English and is super friendly. The online communication was a bit funny, but the accommodation exceeded my expectations.

There’s a communal bathroom in the lounge, and some rooms don’t have showers, so people using that bathroom can leave water on the floor. The place felt a lot like a hostel, with people gathering in the lounge for table tennis, pool, or just hanging out. My room door had a two-foot open space above it where a window used to be, so voices could sound like they were inside. Luckily, the other guests were quiet at night and in the morning, and I could sleep. I only used hot water for coffee, but the kitchen seemed fully equipped. Wi-Fi was hard to use from my room, and I couldn’t connect on my phone at all. The owner can arrange tours if you need help. I’m a little too old for hostel life, but this would suit plenty of people. It’s like a hostel with a private room and shower.

We stayed two nights and slept very well. The building is old, but the location is great, and it was clean and comfortable with good showers. This is a good place if you mainly need somewhere to sleep without spending much. Breakfast is available, but we didn’t choose that package, so I can’t comment on it. The host was friendly and especially helpful in arranging a two-day tour of the Colca Canyon. They picked us up right outside the main doors. We could also leave our luggage in the room while we went on our trek, which took one worry off our hands. The host was easy to reach on WhatsApp. The laundry service was a little overpriced compared with local laundrettes, and although it was quick, we weren’t impressed with the wash quality.

It’s an older, not very modern building, which helps keep the price down. The hostel was clean, especially the bathroom and bed, and the owner was friendly and helpful. If you want somewhere cheap, quiet and fairly comfortable in a good location, this is a solid option.

The owners were incredibly kind, and I was glad to stay in such a traditional place. It was really clean, and the breakfast was nice too. I definitely recommend it.
