The staff were accommodating and friendly, and available around the clock. We arrived at 4:30 a.m. on an overnight bus, so they set us up with beds in a closed corridor where we could rest until our room was ready in the morning. The location is great, just four minutes from the Plaza de Armas and close to shops and busy streets. The water pressure was very low, though, and the water wasn’t very hot.

My backpack was stolen from storage while I was away on a two-day hike to the colca canyon. It had all my clothes and shoes, a kindle, and memory cards from 13 months of travel. The hostel staff wouldn’t help me, and going to the police station meant I missed my bus to Ica. The hostel offered no compensation and didn’t offer me another night’s stay. After spending three hours at the station, I had to find another hostel at midnight. The owner, Jorge, was horrible. When the policeman asked if he would help because I had nothing, he said he wanted nothing to do with me and wasn’t going to help. Do not stay here.

The managers took great care to keep the rooms and hallways clean. It’s a good, quiet place to rest without much noise. I recommend staying here when you visit the white city of Arequipa.

The room was very comfortable and had enough space for my partner and me, and the service was excellent. The only drawback was the tiny shower in the room we were assigned. Apart from that, we were very comfortable and well looked after.
