Le Foyer Arequipa

The breakfast was excellent, with lots of options. It was also the first place in Peru where we were served more than one egg, and you can order extra items for a reasonable price. The room itself was decent, with a good amount of space, a smart TV, balcony, and standard amenities. But the bathroom was extremely cramped. I’m 5’3” and 115 lbs, and had to stand partly in the shower to brush my teeth comfortably. There was a noticeable sewer smell in there too. We stayed Sunday to Tuesday and had hoped the noise might be manageable on those nights, but it was unbelievable. A live band across the street played at full volume until 5:00 a.m. Earplugs and noise-cancelling headphones didn’t help. We could hear traffic as if it were in the room, people walking by in flip-flops, and music from the reception area, upstairs restaurant, and bars across the street all at once. Our room faced the street, which may have made it worse. The hotel has added a sliding door as a sound barrier, but it didn’t cut the noise much. The location is okay, not too far from the main square, but on a very busy street. Without the noise, this probably would have been a fantastic stay. If you book, I’d ask for a room away from the street, or go party with the band.
