Please don't stay here. You could get robbed. I stayed for a week. It was going fine, and this is the only cheap hostal close to Plaza mayor. They charge 110Soles for a room with a private bathroom and 90 Soles without one. The rooms are somewhat dirty, the internet doesn't work, and neither do the security cameras. I picked this place because I planned to spend all day out and only come back at night to shower and sleep. On my last day in Lima, while packing to leave, I found my backpack open. Someone had taken $100 in cash I'd hidden inside. I went straight to the lady and guy who worked there. They got defensive and flustered instead of helping me figure out what happened or suggesting a solution. I asked to see the footage because there was a camera in front of my room, but none of the security cameras worked. Shocking. I couldn't do anything in the end. I wasn't going to miss my flight home over $100. I hope people see this and choose somewhere else.

It's not a fancy place, but the service is first class. I've been staying at this hostal for three and a half years!

I called ahead, then came with my girlfriend on the 27th. The gentleman who helped us in the morning and the one who attended to us that evening were both really helpful. The facilities were good and the location was great. At that price, it would be even nicer if they included breakfast or some kind of snack. I'll definitely come back to Hostal Yaki next time I'm staying in the city center. P.S. Bring cash. They don't accept credit or debit cards, or local or international transfers.

The room was clean and had plenty of light, and the location near Plaza Mayor is hard to beat. Just note that the entrance is a staircase leading up to the building's second floor, and payment is cash only.

The lobby was a nice place to sit and talk, and I felt very safe throughout my five days at Yari Hostel. The service was excellent, too. Its central spot on Jirón de la Unión street does mean some street noise, though I slept well. It may depend on which room you get. I'd recommend staying here.
