Peru Swiss Hostel

A cheap hostel that did the job for one night. The service was friendly, I could leave my luggage without a problem, and the rooftop had nice views.

The location was good, but unfortunately we didn’t like the rooms. The only window opened onto the hallway, leaving the room very dark, and the breakfast area had no windows either. It was also very loud in the hostel, and there were blood stains on the sheets.

The rooftop gives you a great view over the city and mountains, and the hostel is really close to the plaza and lots of restaurants. There’s no breakfast, but a small kitchen with basic cooking equipment is available. Our room had a private bathroom, and the showers had hot water. The hosts were nice, and it was very quiet. A great inexpensive place to stay.

The owner was lovely and caring, and his two workers were keen to help. They never walked when we asked for something, they ran. But we had to go downstairs every time to ask for towels and toilet paper instead of having them ready in our room or given to us on arrival. We stayed four nights between treks. Two showers were steaming hot, but the other two were cold or barely lukewarm. They have both solar and gas systems, so the hot water should have been reliable. If those two things had been sorted, this would have been five stars for us.
