The room itself was good. The shower was hot in the morning but cold the night before, and the Wi-Fi was okay except in the morning. I had to pay cash because card wasn’t an option. What really got to me was how the woman in charge handled payment. My room rate of 50 included breakfast, as I had clearly in writing, but she kept insisting I was wrong and owed another 20 for breakfast. I refused. Later I came back for my backpack and asked the male owner if I could shower before going back to Arequipa. He said yes. I thanked him and said I’d leave the room immaculate, and even wiped the floor with my towel. When I came down, the woman asked me for 10 soles and brought up again that I hadn’t paid for breakfast. I don’t mind the 10 soles, but they hadn’t mentioned a charge before, and it felt like “revenge.” I don’t leave many negative reviews, but I was really fed up with her.

Wi-Fi worked well only in the common area, and the shower pressure was low with an unstable temperature. Still, the room was clean and spacious and very good value for the money. Breakfast was good: two slices of bread, an egg, butter, jam, avocado, and cheese. There was hot tea and coffee in the common area, and the staff were friendly even though they didn’t speak English. We managed with Google Translate. They accepted VISA, and the location was good, just a few minutes’ walk from the main square. A large bottle of beer cost S./6 and tasted pretty good. I stayed in a double room.

The beds were really comfortable, but the hostess was the best part. I arrived after being very ill in the canyon the night before and had to take a taxi to cabanaconde to recover. She could tell I was sick and offered to go to the shop for anti-sickness pills. She kept checking on me after that to make sure I was okay. Very much recommend.

The location is great, and the rooms are simple and very clean. Breakfast was simple but good. Claudia, who runs the place, is lovely.
