Mercado Santa Rosa is just two blocks away, handy for breakfast, fruit, or an early dinner. Calle 5 also runs along the cooperative van route to the port sights, including the naval museum, Submarine Abtao, and Islas Palominos. This is an inexpensive city hotel run by helpful, friendly people. My room was clean, the shower was hot, and they even offered me an upgrade, though I don't know why. It's a small room by U.S. standards but good value. There was some noise from other rooms and the bar, and I liked the bonus mirror by the bed. The neighborhood is a working area.

I paid 50 soles per night, so it was an affordable, no-frills stay. The room and bathroom were adequate, and the staff were friendly. I was there for five days and never ran into trouble, despite the neighborhood's bad reputation. Mostly, I saw families around. It's adults only, though, so it's not a family hotel. Take a bus to Miraflores or the city center and save compared with those overpriced hotels.

For a short stop, it worked well. The price was reasonable for what you get, and having hot water plus a reception desk open 24 hours was a big help.

The location suited my airport transit, and the staff were friendly. I was after somewhere cheap, and the price fit that. The downside was the run-down neighborhood and an uncomfortable shower, with both the hot water and water pressure too low.
